Oak Hill "Star" Employees

January 2007

Jeanie Virga, RRT, Respiratory Therapist
Jeanie joined Oak Hill Hospital as a respiratory therapist in January of 2007; however, she has served as a respiratory therapist in both Community Hospital in New Port Richey and at Regional Medical Center, Bayonet Point. Jeanie’s nomination came from a nurse in the Pediatric Unit who stated, “Jeanie had patients in the pediatric unit for nebulizer treatments. The pediatric department was getting many direct admissions and we were very busy. Jeanie helped me take care of my patients long after her work was done giving nebulizer treatments. She helped so much without even being asked!”

Jeanie says that at Oak Hill Hospital everyone works as a team and Oak Hill is like an extended family. Jeanie and her husband Joe live in Hudson.

Nina Bennett, Environmental Services Technician
Nina began working in environmental services in December of 1989 and has been working here ever since. She and her husband Donald live in Spring Hill. They have two daughters, Donna and Kathy, seven grandchildren and a dog (Tia). Nina’s nomination came from the wife of a patient who praised her for her “wonderful attitude.” The patient’s wife stated, “Nina not only sprayed my husband’s room when I asked but offered to get warm towels and even had his curtain changed. She worked very quickly and was very conscientious.”

After 18 years at Oak Hill Hospital Nina still says that her coworkers are the best thing about working here.

Maria Amaral, Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
Maria began working at Oak Hill Hospital in May 2006 where she now works on the medical floor. She is a nurse assistant and views her job as “I assist patient needs, care for them and make sure that they are OK. I make them comfortable while they’re at Oak Hill Hospital.” Maria has also worked in our Telemetry Unit. Maria and Mario, her husband, live in Spring Hill. They have one daughter, Jane Amaral, and two sons, Jamie and Tony Amaral. Maria’s nominations came from patients who praised her for being prompt and conscientious. “I find her a friendly character. I wish her the best.” Another nomination stated that she gave excellent care and consideration. “Very pleasant and friendly and respectful. Most caretakers are good but she was the best.”

Maria says that, “Oak Hill Hospital is a good hospital to work in and has a good name. People caring for people…good communication and a good reputation. I am very happy here. Thank you.”
